One Dead in Chesapeake, VA Accident | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

According to Chesapeake, Virginia (VA) ,police, a fatal motor vehicle accident closed a busy intersection of S. Military Highway early Thursday morning, April 21, 2011.

The VA traffic accident occurred at approximately 1:55 a.m. at the intersection of Military Highway and Sparrow Road. A Ford F-150 pick-up truck, occupied by a driver and two passengers,  rear-ended a Ford Taurus. The Taurus contained the driver and only one passenger.

The driver of the Ford F150, 21-year old Kevin P. Sikonia of Chesapeake, died after being transported to Chesapeake Regional Medical Center for medical treatment. The two passengers in his vehicle, as well as the occupants of the Taurus, were taken to the same hospital. Their injuries appear to be non life threatening. Chesapeake Police continue to investigate the accident. It is unknown at this time if alcohol or speed were factors in the crash.

Because trucks are larger than cars, and carry different types of cargo, they are more likely to cause severe injuries, and even death, when involved in Virginia motor vehicle accidents.
