13 Injured in NC School Bus Rollover

Twelve students and a bus driver were injured in a rollover crash in Mount Olive, North Carolina (NC),on the morning of Wednesday, January 26, 2011. The driver was charged with a misdemeanor for failing to maintain lane control.

The accident occurred as the bus was headed to North Duplin Elementary School on Ralph Sutton Road near Buckhill Road at approximately 7 am, as reported by NBC17. The driver apparently ran off the road and overcorrected the bus, causing it to overturn onto its side. It was carrying 25 students at the time, nearly half of whom were injured. All victims were treated and released from the hospital.

We wish all the victims a speedy recovery from their injuries.

What a frightening accident this was, and an especially sad one to happen to so many children. Examples such as this illustrate the special responsibility that employees of mass transit bear regarding passenger safety. Sometimes, a qualified driver is the only thing standing between riders and a serious accident. Not only should these drivers keep up with any educational courses or special licenses needed for their jobs, but they should make sure to be alert and well-rested before beginning their work each day.

If you or someone that you love was injured in mass transit accident, contact a qualified law firm to determine if you are eligible for compensation. Often, these accidents are more injurious than those involving other types of vehicles, with damages awarded accordingly. After seeking appropriate medical care, your next step should be to retain an experienced attorney.
