13-Year-Old Boy Not Wearing His Seatbelt Killed in Tragic Car Accident

Tyler Perow, a 13 year old boy from Danville, Virginia (VA), was sitting in a 1997 Isuzu Rodeo when, suddenly, the driver overcorrected and the vehicle flipped several times on Crane Road. Tyler wasn't wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle along with two others, according to the News & Advance. Sadly, Tyler passed away at the Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

My deepest condolences go out to Tyler's friends and family. Losing someone you love is terrible, but it's especially tragic when someone so young is taken from us far too soon.

This accident highlights the importance of wearing your seat belt at all times while riding in a motor vehicle. Sadly, as an injury lawyer who regularly represents people hurt in car accidents, I've seen what can happen when you fail to wear a seat belt. If you're fortunate enough to survive a car wreck, the chances of suffering a severe injury such as the loss of a limb, broken bones, facial lacerations, etc. increase dramatically without a seat belt.

I know some people simply forget to throw that safety belt on when they hop into a vehicle, but you have to remain cognizant and remind yourself to put it on. It could mean the difference between life and death. If you don't believe me, check out what the Journal of the American Medical Association said about seat belt laws in Virginia (VA)

I have an Isuzu and it has problems with the seats belts all of them either fell apart or just stopped working not locking in place or what ever I dont know if this is why the boy was not wearing one or not but if no one has looked into that SUV'S seat belts they should. I wont even put my kids in mine. I do have one seat belts that does currently which I do wear but I do not feel it would hod up in a crash.
