18-Year-Old Girl Killed in Car Crash in Bethel, NC | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

An 18-year-old girl was a passenger in a 2002 Mercedes that was traveling down N.C. 215 in Bethel, North Carolina (NC). The driver apparently lost control, veered off the road, and struck multiple trees, according to citizen-times.com. Tragically, the girl died at the scene of the car wreck.

The at-fault driver was 20 years old and survived the car crash. He was treated for injuries at Mission Hospital.

The exact details of what caused the car accident are still unclear. Was the driver speeding? Was he distracted in some way? Was there a mechanical issue? We still do not know and will have to wait until the accident report is released. We do know that  potential charges are pending against the at-fault driver. Normally, if a person loses control of their car and crashes it is their insurance company’s responsibility to cover the losses.

My deepest sympathies go out to the young girl’s family. It’s tough to put into words the pain a loved one feels when they lose someone they care about in a sudden, terrible accident.
