Interstate 95 (I-95) was the scene of a horrific accident that led to two people suffering life-threatening injuries. The three-vehicle wreck occurred in Spotsylvania, Virginia (VA) when a tractor-trailer hit the rear end of a box truck. This created a chain reaction crash where the box truck slammed into a pickup truck carrying three horses. All three vehicles overturned on the highway, according to wtop.com.
The driver of the tractor-trailer and a passenger suffered serious injuries and are currently being treated at Mary Washington Hospital.
The box truck driver, originally from Virginia Beach, VA was released from the Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center, as was the driver of the pickup truck.
This multi-truck wreck is an example of the devastation that can be caused when large vehicles slam into one another. Remember, this crash was initiated by a rear end collision. Usually, when two compact cars are involved in a fender bender, the two drivers exchange insurance information and go about their day. When trucks hit each other, the damage can be immense.
