Chesapeake, VA Personal Injury Attorney Reports: California Amtrak Accident Cause Multiple Injuries | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

A terrible train accident occurred in Oakland, California (CA). An Amtrak service train slammed into a stationary train and resulted in 18 people suffering injuries. Passengers and crew suffered injuries including a broken arm and one person was taken to hospital, according to the Daily Mail.

Reports indicate that the Amtrak train went through a red light and caused this awful accident. The most pressing question is what exactly caused the train to go through the stop signal. Was there a mechanical issue or an operator error?  If it turns out there was a mechanical flaw that could have been corrected by standard maintainence, the injured victims should consult with a train accident injury attorney to discuss their legal options.

This train crash is the second significant accident in two weeks in the San Francisco East Bay area. I am quite familiar with this area since I lived in Oakland while I got my undergraduate degree at the University of California-Berkeley. Back in September, an Amtrak train slammed into a truck resulting in 37 passengers and two crew members suffering injuries.
