Bicyclist Hit by North Carolina Drunk Driver Dies in Hospital from Injuries | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

We are sad to report that the bicyclist that was hit by a drunk driver earlier this month on I-85 near Davidson County Community College in Lexington, North Carolina lost his fight to survive on March 23, 2012. His injuries sustained in the accident were too great to overcome. The driver of the Toyota pickup truck that struck him failed a Breathalyzer test and was already facing numerous charges, including driving while impaired. Now that the victim has passed, he may face additional charges.

The victim’s family is in our thoughts and we wish them well during this difficult time. It is in their best interest to contact an experienced NC car accident attorney, even though it is most likely not the highest priority in their minds at this time. A knowledgeable, compassionate attorney will help them through the process of reviewing the case, filing any necessary claims, and determining if a wrongful death suit should be filed. They may be entitled to a monetary award that will help to cover medical expenses, funeral costs, and other financial obligations as they arise. Again, our deepest sympathy to the family.
