Comments (0)

What Happened

On January 10, 2013 Can-Am issued a recall for over 3,400 Commander model side by side vehicles. There have been several cases of improper assembly of the steering column to the rack and pinion which has resulted in the loss of steering. This may pose a risk of serious injury or death to the driver and passenger of these vehicles. Consumers should immediately stop using these vehicles right away.

This recall includes the following serial numbers of 2011 and 2012 Can-Am Commander side-by-side vehicles. The model name is printed on the vehicle’s side panel. Models included in the recall are:

Model Year 2011

Can-Am Commander 800 and 1000
Can-Am Commander XT 800R and 1000
Can-Am Commander X 1000

Model Year 2012

The Virginia Personal Injury Lawyers’ Perspective

As consumers, we place a lot of trust in corporations and the government to protect us from defective products. However, mistakes are made and accidents happen. Our experienced Virginia (VA) personal injury attorneys have reported on a number of cases in which defects have led to recalls and injuries. This company is voluntarily recalling these vehicles. However, some companies aren't so forthcoming when they discover defective products. If you or someone you know is injured due to a dangerous or defective product, a consultation with an experienced Virginia (VA) personal injury lawyer is always a good first step.
