Personal Injury Lawyer Perspective:

We do not yet know what was the cause of this serious wreck. However, there is a strong possibility that some type of distracted driving was involved. Recent government statistics show that in 2010, there were 3000 people killed in the US due to distracted driving. This includes people texting or talking on cell phones, as well as talking to passengers, and adjusting the radio. The US government also reports that you are 23 times more likely to crash if you are texting while driving. This tells us that we should always pay strict attention to our driving when we are behind the wheel.
