Chain Reaction Car Crash on I-264 Leaves Four People Seriously Injured, Alcohol May Have Played a Role | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Driving under the influence is extremely risky and can have devastating ramificaitons. A prime example is the crash that occurred on Interstate 264 (I-264) in Virginia Beach, Virginia (VA). The driver of an SUV was allegedly under the influence and wound up crossing the median and hitting two other cars. This caused one of these two cars to hit another car and before you know it, you’ve got a chain reaction car wreck on your hands. Unfortunately, four people suffered serious injuries as a result of this accident, according to The Virginian-Pilot.

Virginia State Police plan to charge the driver of the SUV with driving while under the influence (DUI) and failing to maintain their lane, according to WAVY.com.

Here’s a news reports on this car accident…

It’s frustrating to hear about these kinds of accidents since this whole ordeal may have been prevented if the driver of SUV exercised a bit more responsibility and didn’t drink and drive. Sadly, they didn’t and now four people are in the hospital with serious injuries.

If the driver is convicted of the charges, it’s likely the insurer of the SUV that started this series of crashes will likely pay out all his/her insurance money at some point. Then, since there are so many people hurt, some survivors of the wreck may have to go to their own auto insurance companies to collect what is called underinsured motorist coverage, once the discovery is made that the earlier settlements or verdicts tapped out the main at-fault person’s insurance policy. If you are hurt in this kind of accident you will likely want to get an experienced injury lawyer who can sort through the insurance issues and get you all the compensation you deserve.
