In a dramatic car crash that ended in tragedy, the Charlotte Fire Department was called to the 1400 block of Little Rock Road at Flatrock Road around 8 a.m. for a vehicle which ran off a bridge. Upon their arrival they were witness to wreckage that created a death trap for the occupant caught inside.

The victim’s car was wrapped around a tree which trapped the people inside, according to responders on the scene. Authorities reported that the rescue operation caused traffic delays and Little Rock Road, shutting traffic for a few hours.

Tragically, this car crash off a bridge ended with a fatality. Any car accident is frightening, but an accident in which your vehicle is thrown into the water, with you trapped inside, is absolutely terrifying. Such accidents are particularly dangerous due to the risk of drowning, but the fact is that most deaths are a result of panic, not having a plan and not understanding what is happening to the car in the water. By adopting a brace position to survive the impact and acting decisively when the car ends up in the water, even a flood swollen river, being trapped in a sinking vehicle is survivable.
