Chesapeake, VA Wreck With Injuries Involves Cars and Motorcycle | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

When a motorcycle and three larger vehicles became involved in an accident on Military Highway at Canal Road in Chesapeake, Virginia (VA), on March 1, 2012, three people suffered injuries. According to WAVY-TV 10, two of the injured required transportation to hospitals. The station also noted that one of the people in a vehicle had to be cut free from the wreckage.

Unmentioned in the news report is whether one of the individuals hurt was the motorcyclist. If the bike rider did walk away from the crash unscathed, however, it would be more than a minor miracle. As a Virginia personal injury attorney who has represented dozens of motorcyclists injured, and sometimes permanently disabled, by crashes caused by car and truck drivers, I know that bikers face great risks to life and limb in any collision.

While this Chesapeake pileup demonstrates that no one in any vehicle is completely protected from injury during an accident, people on motorcycles are always more likely to get seriously hurt or killed simply because they are not surrounded by metal and other impact-absorbing materials.

I wish all the injured individuals speedy recoveries.
