Child Killed When Neighbor Backs Over NC Boy With Car | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Seven-year-old Caesar Ramirez was killed on Nace Jennette Lane on Sunday evening, June 7, around 6:30 p.m. in Buxton, NC, when a neighbor struck the boy while backing out of his driveway. According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, the driver did not see the young boy as he was driving in reverse.

According to reports, the boy was playing with three other children in the area, and although the driver was aware of children playing, he thought that he had all of the children in view when he backed up his car. Especially in the cases of high-riding SUVs, it can be difficult to spot children behind you when driving in reverse.

The young boy was rushed to Hatteras Island Medical Clinic, where he was pronounced dead at half past nine by D. Robert Rihld.

No charges have been filed in this pedestrian accident.
