Communications Breakdown Eyed as Cause of Collision Involving Three CSX Trains

Comments (0)
In his latest post to our Virginia personal injury law firm’s Railroad Accident/FELA Lawyer Blog, my colleague reports on a three-train accident involving a rear-end collision, derailment and fire involving toxic substances. The wreck occurred near Valparaiso, Indiana (IN), on January 7, 2011, and two CSX employees sustained injuries requiring hospital treatment. Rick notes that federal investigators have begun seeking a cause for the accident and that if findings turn up evidence of missing or misused communications equipment, CSX could be held liable under the Safety Appliance Act.
