Company Recalls Cheese from Virginia Stores after Numerous Illnesses, Deaths | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

A Colorado company has issued a voluntary recall on one of its cheese products in several states, including Virginia. It is believed that 14 people have been hospitalized and three people have died from eating the contaminated product. The product in question is Frescolina brand ricotta salata from the Forever Cheese Company. The contaminated lot was shipped to stores between June 20 and August 19, 2012. The product is thought to be contaminated with listeria, which causes symptoms such as diarrhea, muscle aches, fever, and nausea. Further information regarding the recall can be obtained by contacting Forever Cheese during regular business hours at (888) 930-8693.

Product recalls such as this one occur all the time. Sometimes the recall is limited to one batch of the product, but in other cases the product as a whole is recalled after it is deemed potentially unsafe for the consumer. This frequently happens with drugs and medical devices and may affect hundreds of consumers. Situations like this often turn into class-action lawsuits, where cases are no longer considered individually, but as one large group.

Our Virginia product recall attorneys handle their cases differently. Victims of product liability are treated as individuals, not as a group. Actual attorneys work on behalf of our clients instead of paralegals. And our attorneys will not lump your case into a settlement with others, but will handle it personally, taking it all the way to trial if necessary.

If you have been affected by a defective product and want your case handled by an attorney who cares about you, contact one of our VA product liability attorneys to discuss your case.
