Norfolk, VA Personal Injury Attorney Info: Conrad Murray Found Guilty in Michael Jackson Death Case, Now What?

Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson's personal physician, was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter for causing the music legend's death due to an overdose of the powerful surgical anesthetic propofol.

Murray, a cardiologist, will like lose his medical license and faces a maximum sentence of four years in state prison and a minimum sentence of probation. California authorities have already suspended his right to practice, but medical boards in Nevada and Texas agreed to wait to evaluate licenses he holds in their states until after the criminal case.

So what is the next step for the Jackson family?

In the opinion of this attorney, the family should consider filing a wrongful death claim against the doctor whose gross negligence was found to have lead to their loved one's death. This would allow the family to pursue financial damages for the pain and suffering associated with the loss. However, since Murray probably spent a considerable sum of money for his legal defense, he may not have adequate assets to properly compensate the family.
