Couple Killed in Tragic Ashburn Accident | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Patrick Wrenn and Leia Wrenn (WUSA 9.com) were enjoying a ride on their motorcycle in Ashburn, Virginia (VA) when their lives came to a sudden and tragic end. The couple was hit by a drunk driver and thrown from the motor bike. Both died later at a hospital.

The drunk driver was reportedly making a left turn into a shopping center at Junction Plaza from Ashburn Farm Parkway when the driver slammed into Mr. Wrenn’s motor bike, according to the WUSA9.com article. The Wrenn’s were in their mid-forties and had their whole lives ahead of them.

Our deepest condolences go out to the Wrenn family. Losing someone you love about is always difficult, but the pain is made even worse when your loved one is taken from you abruptly without warning. It also has to be infuriating to think about the “what ifs”. For example, what if the driver exercised more caution and didn’t get behind the wheel while intoxicated.

The at-fault driver was charged with DUI and two counts of felony aggravated involuntary manslaughter.

Unfortunately, fatal accidents involving cars and motorcycles are quite common. In fact, 775 lives were lost in Virginia last year in motor vehicle accidents and at least 78 of those fatalities were in accidents involving a motorcycle.
