Deadly Log Truck Crash Involves 5 Other Vehicles in Onslow County | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Onslow County was witness to a deadly wreck involving 6 vehicles including a logging truck that happened just before noon on highway 258.  The exact location was just past Pony Farm Road and emergency responders indicated that the weather may have contributed to the tragic accident.

This multi-car crash involved a log truck and five other vehicles. Authorities on the scene have confirmed at least one death. Three other people were hurt in the crash with two that were taken to Onslow Memorial and the third was flown to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.

The deadly wreck in Onslow County closed down a 5-lane highway for several hours Monday. State troopers say 59-year-old Frederick Sloan of Chinquapin was killed in the crash. As reported by the Highway Patrol, a log truck was traveling in the eastbound lane of 258 and crossed the center line, causing five other vehicles to crash into one another in the westbound lanes. The wreck remains under investigation and charges are pending against the driver of the truck.
