Defective Product: Dangerous Swan Creek Votive Candles Pose Burn Hazard | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Clean burning, lead free, dozens of varieties and colors.  No wonder nearly 5,000 Swan Creek scented votive candles were sold.  However these candles are a potential burn hazard and because of their defective nature have been recalled.  The company has already received about 89 reports of the loose votive candles with high or erratic flames including four reports of minor burns.

The company urges consumers to immediately stop using the recalled votive candles and return them to any Swan Creek Candle company stores for a full refund or a replacement.  It sounds like this product should have never been sold to the public because it was unsafe and likely to cause a fire.

The fire and burn injury statistics for the U.S. are put out by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other groups such as the American Burn Association. The numbers are tragic including a person dying about every two hours in the United States, the vast majority being residential fires.

When companies manufacture products that can cause a burn injury to someone else an experienced personal injury lawyer can make a real difference in showing what was done wrong and what the at-fault person or business should have done differently to prevent harm to someone else and their family
