Driver Who Caused Fatal Clemmons, NC Head-On Fled Scene | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

A 77-year-old woman lost her life after being hit head-on near the intersection of Central Road and NC 150 in Clemmons, North Carolina (NC). The fatal accident occurred at about 5:30 pm on June 8, 2012, and police said the man who slammed into the deceased victim’s vehicle was not to blame for the crash.

Authorities explained that a third car failed to yield right of way to the man, causing him to swerve and hit the woman’s vehicle. The at-fault driver then fled the scene, and police continue searching for a man driving a vehicle described as a maroon or purple Kia Optima.

This was not a typical fatal head-on or deadly hit-and-run, but the tragic loss of life was the same regardless of who caused the accident or why the at-fault driver did so. Our condolences go out the family and friends of the woman who was killed

As North Carolina wrongful death attorneys, we know that unsafe merges and illegal turns set the stage for many serious crashes. We also know that no one involved in an accident ever has a valid excuse for speeding away from the wreckage before authorities arrive and all assistance possible is rendered to victims. We hope the negligent and irresponsible Kia driver is located and held accountable.
