Drunk Driver in Fatal Durham Crash Has Multiple DWLR Citations

Comments (0)

Another drunk driving accident has taken the life of a North Carolina citizen. The fatal crash, which took the life of a 53-year-old Durham N.C. man, happened Wednesday evening at approximately 8 p.m. at 8 p.m. on Fayetteville Road near Cook Road in Durham.

According to reports from police officials, a 41-year-old driver, also from Durham, was traveling southbound on Fayeteville Road when his car crashed into the rear of the dead victim’s vehicle. That impact sent the victim’s car directly into oncoming traffic, where it was hit by another car, driven by a 20-year-old Durham woman. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The female driver and her passenger were both transported to the hospital with injuries.

The driver of the car who police say was responsible for the deadly crash was also transported to the hospital with injuries. He has been charged with driving while impaired and driving while his license was revoked, however, police are meeting with the District Attorney’s office to determine if there will be additional charges filed against him.

Police records show the driver has a long criminal record involving driving infractions, which include six driving while under license revocation citations. He is currently listed as a probation absconder after failing to meet with his probation officer last fall.

If you have been injured or lost a loved one in an accident caused by a drunk driver, contact an experienced North Carolina personal injury attorney to find out what legal recourse you may have against the other driver.
