The Virginia Injury Lawyer’s Perspective:

As an experienced Virginia (VA) car accident attorney I applaud the efforts of the Virginia State Police in getting this dangerous driver off the road.  Wrong-way drivers on the interstate nearly always cause fatalities.  Older dangerous drivers are causing more and more accidents as our population ages.  Statistics show that in a fatal accident involving two-vehicles with an older and a younger driver, it is 3.1 times as likely that the vehicle driven by the older person will be struck. In 27% of these two-vehicle fatal crashes the older driver was turning left. Another NHTSA study found that the fatality rate for drivers 85 and over is nine times as high as the rate for drivers 25 through 69 years old.
