A wrong-way crash on Route 15 in Loudon County, Virginia (VA), killed a woman and sent a passenger from the at-fault driver's car to the hospital with serious injuries. The fatal wreck happened just before 7:30 am on January 3, 2017, reportedly after the surviving driver fell asleep at the wheel and crossed the center line of the highway.
Police have charged the man who lost control of his after falling asleep with reckless driving. Under Virginia law, that charge means law enforcement officials believe the man was operating in a "manner so as to endanger the life, limb, or property." Being unable to control his car because he was not awake could certainly fall under the statutory definition of reckless driving.
Working with a dedicated Virginia plaintiff's lawyer will help the injured passenger and the family of the woman who lost her life collect relevant evidence from police and use it effectively when dealing with insurance company representatives to pursue personal injury and wrongful death claims.
