Fatal Wrong Way Collision in Washington D.C.

Comments (0)

What Happened

An accident took place in the nation’s capital on March 2, 2013 that killed one and left another in serious condition.

According to authorities a 74-year-old driver crossed over the double yellow lines and struck a Honda head-on that was driven by a 65-year-old man. The 74-year-old that caused the accident was transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. After being extricated from his car the driver of the Honda was taken to Prince George’s County Trauma Center in serious condition.

There has been no news released on the victim’s condition since the crash, and police have launched an investigation to determine what may have caused the driver to cross over the lines.

The Virginia Personal Injury Lawyers’ Perspective

It is tragic that a man lost his life in this accident, but this does not change the fact that his actions caused the injuries of another person. If the driver was reckless or does not have a valid excuse (such as a sudden medical emergency) the victim would have a right to pursue full compensation for his medical bills and lost wages. Contacting a dedicated and experienced Virginia (VA) personal injury attorney can help gain financial compensation for his pain and suffering. Our personal injury lawyers have represented thousands of accident victims and our lawyers have over 100 years combined legal experience. Our Virginia (VA) personal injury lawyers have helped many victims receive the proper restitution they deserve for their injuries.

Potentially Helpful Info:

When a driver crosses the center line they become a wrong way driver. There are many wrong way driver accidents every year that occur for a variety of reasons. The most common would likely be that of drunk driving. In North Carolina (NC) last month a drunk driver flew through an intersection making a left turn and entered the highway in the wrong lane and collided with another vehicle head-on. The vehicle he collided with was occupied by a father and his two children.  All were seriously injured and taken to the hospital and one of the children died from her injuries.
