Fauquier Car Crash Causes Loss of Life, Injuries | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Another life has been lost to a drunk, reckless driver. The innocent victim this time was Phar Chom Taengsat, who was driving his Lincoln Town Car on VA Route 28 when an drunk driver traveling in an Isuzu Rodeo slammed head-on into Taengsat’s vehicle. He was only 43 years old.

Police charged the at-fault driver with drunken driving and driving without a license, according to insidenova.com. Additional charges might be filed. In addition to the tragic death of Taengsat, three passengers in the Isuzu suffered injuries and had to be taken to a hospital for medical treatment.

My deepest sympathies go out to Teangsat’s family. Losing someone in a sudden accident is a gut-wrenching experience that no one should have to suffer through. Far too many people endure that trauma because of reckless drunk drivers.

The family should consider speaking to a Virginia wrongful death lawyer about their legal options. It appears this accident could have been prevented, if not for the irresponsible behavior of the at-fault driver. In Virginia, and many other states, punitive damages can be awarded in wrongful death claims when the defendant’s behavior is especially egregious.
