Five Die In Aiken County Three-Car Accident | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

A three-car accident in Aiken County, South Carolina, left three people dead in June. The accident took place on New Holland Road near Couchton, SC, when a woman lost control of her vehicle, crossed the double yellow centerline, and hit an oncoming pickup truck head on. The car then hit a third car before coming to a stop.

Crystal Lyell had spent the day swimming with her family and a friend the day before the accident and alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the case. In addition to Lyell, her four-year old son Zachary was killed as well as family members Michael and Joshua Lott, and friend Mark Daniels.

Two other riders in other cars were injured in the accident. Some of those in Lyell’s car were wearing seat belts while others were not. The accident is still under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
