Four Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on U.S. 50 in Maryland | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

On a lonely stretch of U.S. Route 50 in Crofton, Maryland (MD), just north of the Virginia (VA) state line, four people lost their lives in a wrong-way crash. A car carrying three teens was crossed into the path of oncoming traffic and struck another car head-on. The driver of the wayward vehicle and two teen passengers were killed instantly, and the other driver died on the way to the hospital.

As Virginia car accident attorneys, we have been exposed to the horrors of wrong-way crashes and know how devastating they can be for victims and their families.

         Horrors of Wrong-Way Driving

The National Highway Safety Administration estimates that wrong-way drivers cause approximately 3 percent of accidents each year and that wrong-way crashes are five times more likely to occur during the early morning hours, as the Maryland accident did.

Any parent who loses a child will most likely suffer serious grief and depression. The wrongful death of a child is also hard on Virginia personal injury attorneys. However, securing compensation for family members and being able to ease their pain and worry if even by a small amount is worth it.
