Grimesland, NC Dirt Bike Rider Killed in Crash | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

The Highway Patrol says they suspect alcohol was involved in the wreck that killed the man from Grimesland. The Highway Patrol has released the name of the dirt bike rider killed in a crash Monday night. First Sgt. M.A. Williams tells WITN the crash killed 47-year-old Gary Carrow of Grimesland.

The crash was reported at 7:40 p.m. Monday on Galloway Road near Grimesland in Pitt County. First Sgt. Williams says Carrow was going about the speed limit, but he was riding on the shoulder. The posted speed limit was too fast for biking on the shoulder, Williams said. Carrow lost control of his dirt bike and ran into a line of trees.

Williams said Carrow was also not wearing a helmet, and troopers suspect alcohol was involved in the crash. Details are coming in this morning on a fatal crash involving a dirt bike that occurred near Grimesland.

The Highway Patrol says the fatal accident happened on Boyd Galloway Road near Grimesland in Pitt County, around 7:40 Monday night. The patrol could not release the name of he victim.
