A man driving a stolen pickup truck led officers from multiple law enforcement agencies on a high-speed chase before causing an accident at Brunswick and South Main Street in Emporia, Virginia (VA), that left one person injured. The pickup struck three other cars in all.

According to the Independent-Messenger, the incident started with two Greensville County Sheriff’s deputies investigating a trespassing call who identified a pickup truck matching the description of a stolen vehicle. When they attempted to stop the driver, he increased his speed and headed north on I-95. After going several miles north on I-95 in both the northbound and southbound lanes at speeds of up to 115 mph, the suspect turned around and headed south. He exited the highway and continued driving the truck at excessive speeds through Emporia.

Deputy Pearce of the Greensville County Sheriff’s office estimated that the driver was going around 85 mph when he caused the accident. A taxi driver was airlifted to a local hospital with significant injuries.
