Hummer Strikes Scooter in Chesapeake, Virginia (VA), Victim Now Identified | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

According to an article in The Virginian Pilot, the victim of a vehicle collision that occurred on Saturday, May 30th has been identified as Natalie Turner Staff, 49.  Staff was driving a motor scooter down Cedar Road at 1:30 p.m. when she was struck by a Hummer that was turning left onto Cedar Road.  The driver of the Hummer did not sustain injuries, and he told police that he did not see the motor scooter.  As of yet, there are no charges filed against the operator of the Hummer.  Just because the police did not charge the man in the big SUV with a traffic offense does not mean that he was not negligent.  He can still be held liable in a civil court for improper look out and reckless driving in a wrongful death case in which his insurer could be forced to pay for the loss caused to the lady’s family.  Staff worked for U.S. Joint Forces Command as a strategic policy planner and left behind a husband, John.
