A Chesapeake, Virginia (VA) teenager was hit by a truck while walking east on Interstate 264 (I-264). He tried to cross to the westbound lanes to get to the Berkley Avenue exit. The victim was only 18 years old.
Our sympathies go out to the family of the victim. This is a heartbreaking accident since the victim was so young and had his whole life ahead of him.
Charges have not been filed against the driver of the truck, but the accident investigation continues, according to The Virginian Pilot.
This pedestrian crossing accident is a reminder of how important it is to find a designated crosswalk to use when attempting to cross a highly congested road or highway. It’s also important for drivers to be cautious when they see someone walking on a road. You just never know when, or if, someone may try to cross.
