I-64 Wreck in Norfolk, VA Causes Serious Injuries | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Six people were seriously hurt in a major accident on I-64 in Norfolk, Virginia (VA). The accident occurred when the driver of a Volkswagen veered into a closed lane and slammed into a truck carrying highway workers that were contracted by the Virginia Department of Transportation.

The driver of the Volkswagen is in serious condition at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, and two passengers in the car also suffered injuries. No charges have been filed yet, but investigators have determined that alcohol and excessive speed “played contributing factors in the accident,” according to the Daily Press.

The passengers in the Volkswagen should consider speaking to a Virginia injury lawyer to discuss their legal options. If it turns out the driver was intoxicated and/or speeding, the passengers have a right to file a claim to pursue damages for medical expenses, any wages lost for time missed from work, and the pain and suffering associated with the I-64 wreck.
