James City Teen Killed in Crash

Comments (0)

What Happened:

A man was driving his pickup truck in a field when it overturned in Eastern New Kent County. He and a 19-year old girl were in the cab while three others were riding in the truck bed. While driving, the truck overturned causing multiple injuries to the passengers. The 19-year-old girl taken to VCU Medical Center where she died from her injuries.

According to The Virginia Gazette, the driver is facing multiple felony charges including an involuntary manslaughter charge. Many misdemeanors are pending including reckless driving and underage possession of alcohol.

The Virginia Injury Lawyer’s Perspective:

The driver of the pickup truck appears to have been driving recklessly through a field and caused the truck to overturn, killing one of his passengers and injuring another. The parents of the victim who died should speak with a Virginia wrongful death attorney as soon as they can to discuss their legal options. The fact that the driver is facing multiple criminal charges does not preclude the parents and surviving family of the James City teen can initiate a civil claim.
