Limo Driver Charged in Asheville Accident that Killed Newlywed Couple | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

A limo driver in Asheville, North Carolina (NC) is facing charges after causing a terrible accident that resulted in the death of a newlywed couple who had just attended a friend’s wedding in NC.

The limo driver was charged with DWI and two counts of felony death by motor vehicle.  The Lincoln Town Car the limo driver was operating reportedly went over an embankment and crashed into a tree killing the two innocent passengers.

The passengers – William Reid and his wife Jamie Reid – were both teachers, had been married only three months and were in their mid-twenties. They had bright futures ahead of them, but those futures were taken from them due to the reckless actions of the limo driver.

If that wasn’t bad enough, Mrs. Reid was pregnant. She had the ultrasound pictures of their unborn child in her purse when the accident happened.

This was a heartbreaking accident which illustrates just how fragile life can be. It also illustrates the importance of exercising caution when getting behind the wheel of a vehicle. If only the limo driver in this incident was cautious and decided not to drive after consuming alcohol. Maybe, just maybe, this awful wreck could have been avoided. Unfortunately, all that’s left for the family and loved ones of the victims is that haunting question, “what if?”
