In his latest post to the Virginia Beach Injuryboard, my colleague Rick Shapiro notes with approval that city road officials have implemented a plan to lower the speed limit along most of Shore Drive. The change from 45 mph to 35 mph between Pleasure House Road and West Great Neck Road comes in the wake of two pedestrians’ deaths along Shore Drive between October 2009 and May 2010. In all, ten pedestrians have been killed after being struck by cars or trucks on Shore Drive since 2002.
