Major Truck Crash on I-85 Leads to Injuries | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

An accident on I-85 in Petersburg, Virginia (VA) sent a 40-year-old man to the hospital with life threatening injuries, according to WTVR. The accident occurred when a tractor trailer failed to stay on the road, ran off the side of the road and hit a bridge overpass and guardrail. The truck then crossed over into the northbound lanes of I-85 where it collided with a box truck.

The driver of the box truck was airlifted toVCUMedicalCenter with serious, life-threatening injuries. The driver of the big rig that initiated the wreck was charged with reckless driving and failure to wear a seat belt.
This terrible accident illustrates the damage that can be done when a driver of a large tractor trailer fails to operate their vehicle with caution and car. The recklessness of the tractor trailer driver has resulted in an innocent person suffering serious injuries.

The injured box truck driver should consider speaking to a personal injury attorney in Virginia to determine his legal options. Just because the tractor trailer driver is facing criminal charges does not preclude him from seeking a recovery through the civil court system.

Our trucking accident injury law firm understands just how devastating accidents can be when they involve large tractor trailers. For example, we handled a case involving a big rig crash on Interstate 64 (I-64) in Norfolk, VA that led to our client getting burned alive.
