Man Killed in Lincoln County Accident | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

What Happened:

A 40-year old man was a passenger in a pickup truck when it crashed into a utility pole on Route 3 in Lincoln County, West Virginia (WV). The victim had to be transported by air to Cabell Huntington Hospital, according to WSAZ. The passenger later died as a result of his injuries. The driver was not hurt in the accident. Police officers are still investigating the cause of the crash and whether criminal charges are necessary.

The West Virginia Injury Lawyer’s Perspective:

We do not know what exactly caused the driver to slam into the utility pole. If it turns out the driver was speeding, distracted, intoxicated, or negligent in another manner, then the family members of the victim should speak with a wrongful death attorney who is licensed in West Virginia. While nothing can bring back the victim, the family could seek restitution through a civil claim against the driver.
