In his latest post to our firm’s Norfolk Injuryboard blog, my colleague Rick Shapiro reports on a promising new approach to resolving medical malpractice lawsuits quickly and fairly for injured patients and family members whose loved one died as a result of a medical mistake. The innovation, called judge-directed negotiation, resembles mediation and allows plaintiffs’ and defendants’ attorneys to reach settlements in months instead of years.
