Mother of Two Children Tragically Killed in No. Virginia Car Crash | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Emily Howell, a native of Fredericksburg, Virginia (VA) was driving with her two children in an Acura. They were at the intersection of Lambs Creek Church Road (state route 694) when, suddenly, a Corvette came out of nowhere and smashed into them.

Mrs. Howell died at the scene of the accident and her two kids were injured. My deepest condolences go out to Mrs. Howell’s friends and family. I sincerely hope her children make a full recovery.

Michael Murphy was driving the Corvette and did not suffer any serious injuries. However, he will be charged with reckless driving, according to Fredericksburg.com.

As an injury lawyer who regularly represents people seriously hurt in car accidents, I’ve seen the terrible ramifications of reckless driving. Unfortunately, these types of accidents are all too common. For example, two people were killed in Isle of Wight from car crashes.

Reckless driving is defined as a mental state in which the driver displays a “wanton disregard” for the rules of the road.  The police may charge reckless driving even for over 20 mph over the speed limit or for various other dangerous driving actions.
