Motorcycle Accident in Williamstown Leads to Loss of Life | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Three family members (a father, son, and daughter-in-law) were enjoying a ride on their motorcycles in Williamstown, West Virginia (WV) when the nightmare began. As they entered an “S-turn” on W.Va. 31 near Jericho Road the father’s motorcycle reportedly encountered some gravel on the road and lost control. A pickup truck was traveling the opposite direction and slammed head-on with the father.

The son was riding behind and when he saw his father lose control, he tried to decrease his speed but hit a loose exhaust pipe and wound up going over an embankment.

Both the son and daughter-in-law suffered injuries. Sadly, the father did not make it. He was declared dead at the scene, according to the News and Sentinel.

We don’t know the exact cause of the accident, but witnesses pointed to the gravel that was on the road. Another potential factor could be worn tires on the motorcycle. This is troubling since reports indicate the rider recently purchased the motor bike.

Whether the cause was gravel or worn tires, this terrible motorcycle accident is an example of how even the smallest problem on the road or mishap can have tragic consequences.
