Motorcycle Rider Killed in Accident on Route 60 in Amherst County | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Don Henry Harriman (named in wset.com article) was enjoying a ride on his motorcycle heading down Route 60 in Amherst County when his life came to an abrupt and tragic end. A 1998 Isuzu Amigo SUV stopped to make a left turn on Route 60. As the Amigo SUV made the left turn, it collided with Mr. Harriman’s 1994 Honda Shadow motorcycle.

Mr. Harriman, a resident of Charlotte Hall, Maryland (MD), died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the SUV was not hurt in the accident.

The details of the wreck remain few and far between. Did the SUV driver not see Mr. Harriman? Were they distracted? We will have to wait and see what the accident report reveals. What we do know that charges are pending against the SUV driver, according to state police.

Unforunately, when a car slams into a motorcycle, the motorcycle operator usually suffers the brunt of the damage. For example, the DMV reports that in 2012, over 2,000 motorcycle operators were injured and nearly 80 were killed in Virginia accidents alone
