Chesapeake, VA Personal Injury Attorney Reports: Motorcycle Rider Killed, Others Injured in Head-n Accident on Highway 71 | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

A 54-year-old man from East Stone Gap, Virginia (VA), was enjoying a ride on his motorcycle on Highway 71 in Russell County when his life came to an abrupt, tragic end. He was killed when a dump truck crossed the center line and slammed into his motorcycle. The truck also hit two more people on motorcycles, and those victims suffered injuries. Reports indicate the motorcycle riders were part of a Christian motorcycle club based in Wise County, VA.

Police continue to investigate the accident and have not determined what caused the at-fault truck operator to cross the center line. Was the driver distracted? Was there a mechanical issue with the truck? We will have to wait and see what the investigation reveals.

If it turns out the at-fault truck driver was distracted, drowsy, or under the influence of a substance, the family of the victim may have a claim for wrongful death in Virginia. To learn about Virginia wrongful death law, take a look at this free consumer report
