A motorcycle crash in Norfolk has lead to the death of one person. Authorities say a motorcycle collided with a vehicle at the intersection of East Little Creek Road and Thompson Road around 6:30 p.m. The motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital where he later succumbed to the injuries sustained in the crash. The Norfolk police department say they are conducting an investigation of the crash, but no one has been charged at this time.

Our thoughts go out to the family of the motorcyclist at this most difficult time. As a Norfolk injury attorney, I’m all too familiar with the intersection where this wreck occurred. There is a raised median with large shrubs that makes it difficult to see oncoming traffic. If you routinely drive in this area, make sure to slow down and be prepared for oncoming traffic you may not be able to see right away. Motorcycles are small and often hard to see even in the best of conditions. All too often, drivers of cars, trucks and SUVs hit motorcyclists without seeing them at all.

If you or a loved one has been injured in a crash, consider giving us a call. This kind of tragedy is inexplicable. Our experienced Virginia Beach personal injury attorneys have reported on and been involved in cases involving numerous personal injuries and fatalities of motorcycle riders. Virginia  is an “at fault’ state which means a driver who caused an accident involving a motorcycle can be held accountable for injuries and damages caused.
