Norfolk, VA Personal Injury Lawyer Info: Chesapeake, Virginia (VA) Children Injured in School Bus Accident

The wheels on the bus go round and round. This nursery school song may have been sung by some of the younger elementary school students on a school bus in Chesapeake, Virginia (VA) right before they were hit by a car. Most parents feel secure that their children will arrive safe at school when their children climb aboard a big yellow school bus.

As a
Virginia car accident attorney and father, it always astounds me that someone can be careless enough to hit a school bus. Luckily, in this accident, all of the children survived. However, there were two injuries that required the children to be taken to the hospital.

We do not know if the driver has adequate insurance coverage to cover the damage associated with this accident. Unfortunately, many drivers in Virginia do not have adequate coverage. If, hypothetically, the driver had minimum auto insurance coverage of  $25,000 per person and $50,000 total per accident, no matter how many people are hurt, there could be a race to claim the money if three or more folks were injured. In that unhappy situation then the school's insurance and/or the families' would have to come into play to cover the rest of the losses.

This car-bus accident is similar to a case we handled involving passengers who were injured after a drunk driver slammed into their vehicle. Having multiple passengers hurt can present some problems since it routinely results in multiple parties seeking recovery from the same source of insurance.
