North Carolina (NC) Man Dies in Truck Hit-and-Run | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

According to The Dispatch, a Burton Road truck accident in Thomasville, North Carolina (NC) may have been hit and run crash that left a 71 year-old man dead.

The Thomasville victim was thought to be going out to collect his mail on Wednesday, January 2, 2011, when he was found lying dead on the road at approximately 1:40 pm. Investigators believe that a truck may have been involved, striking the victim before fleeing the scene.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is currently investigating the accident, although it is reported to be a difficult case. The scene contains little evidence, and at present, no witnesses have been found. Burton Road was closed for several hours while police continued their investigation.

Our hearts go out to the family of the elderly victim, who may have been doing nothing more than trying to retrieve his mail on a cold winter’s day. We are sorry he had to be taken from his loved ones in this manner.
