What Happened:

Police officers put their lives at risk to make our lives safer every time they go to work. Even something as seemingly routine as a traffic stop can be dangerous. In Madison County, NC, a state highway trooper was critically injured when he was hit by a car on Highway 19 near Crooked Creek Road on September 12, 2012. The trooper had pulled over a driver in a construction zone when another car left the road and struck him.

The North Carolina Injury Lawyer’s Perspective:

North Carolina is one of many states that has a “Move Over” law, requiring drivers to slow down or move to the far lane when passing workers, emergency responders, or police officers that are stopped on the side of the road. This law is in place to help protect those whose jobs require them to be in the dangerous situation of being out of a vehicle on a highway. Our NC car accident attorneys applaud those who work in these conditions and work hard to help those who are injured and their families receive the compensation they deserve.
