In his latest post to our firm’s Norfolk Injury Board, my colleague Randy Appleton notes that a rail safety and injury attorney in our office was recently interviewed by a reporter for WVEC, the local ABC TV affiliate, about the need for an automatic emergency braking system for the HRT Tide light-rail system in Norfolk, Virginia (VA). Randy describes how positive train controls provide an extra layer of safety for preventing collisions between trains and cars, trucks or pedestrians due to engineers’ health crises or distractions.
