Virginia M. Welch of Mesa, Arizona (AZ), has filed a defective product lawsut against Wright Medical Technology, claiming the company’s Profemur hip replacement device she had implanted in 2006 failed after just 3 years despite being marketed with assurances that it would have a usable lifespan of 15 years.
Data compiled by the Australian Orthopaedic Association show that 11.2 percent of the Profemur hip implants last just 36 months or less before beginning to deteriorate and cause patients pain, limited mobility and other health problems.
My experienced Virginia (VA) defective products attorney colleagues and I have noted that many of the approximately 93,000 patients who received recently recalled DePuy hip implants have needed followup surgeries to remove and replace those defective devices.
