North Carolina Driver Faces Murder Charges in Pedestrian Deaths

Comments (0)

Two cars racing down a street in Middlesex, North Carolina (NC) ended in tragedy on Sunday, when one car lost control and plowed into a group of pedestrians on a sidewalk.

That driver killed three and injured four others, and now is facing 2nd degree murder charges. He also is facing two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. The incident occurred at approximately 10:40 PM on July 12.

The wreck happened at Simon Road and Buckhorn Drive in Middlesex. A witness told police that there were two cars racing on Simon Road when one driver lost control. The North Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating if there was a pre-arranged competition that led to the accident.

Our entire personal injury law firm extends our deepest condolences to the family members involved in this terrible tragedy. We wish that it were not necessary to even think about legal action at such a tragic time, but the family members of the deceased should strongly consider filing a wrongful death lawsuit against those who are allegedly responsible for this accident.

A wrongful death suit in North Carolina must be filed by a personal representative of the deceased, such as the executor of the victim’s estate. If the victim did not have a will, then any direct family member who is a beneficiary can be a personal representative.

Some of the damages we have pursued in similar wrongful death cases in North Carolina include:

·         Loss of income from the victim for the future

·         Loss of services, protection, car and assistance

·         Medical expenses

·         Funeral expenses

·         Compensation for pain and suffering for the victim and the family

Note that the statute of limitations in North Carolina is just two years, so, the families in this case should seek effective legal counsel as soon as possible.
