North Carolina Jogger Hit By Car

Comments (0)

A man from Holly Springs, North Carolina was left with serious injuries after he was hit by a car while jogging.

Holly Springs police stated that the 37 year-old man was jogging with his wife at 6:30 am at the intersection of Holly Springs Road and Linksland Drive when he was struck by the car.

The jogger was taken to a hospital in Raliegh and he is listed in critical condition.

Police said that the couple was trying to cross Holly Springs Road at the crosswalk, when a student from a local high school drove down the road. The 18-year old driver was not hurt.

The accident still is under investigation.

Our personal injury law firm frequently handles pedestrian accidents involving cars driving through cross walks. We have handled both personal injury and wrongful death claims in such accidents in both Virginia and North Carolina.

The laws in Virginia state that the pedestrian must yield right of way to cars on the road, but there is an important exception: crosswalks. When a pedestrian is crossing a roadway with a clearly marked crosswalk and the speed limit is under 35 mph, the driver must slow down or stop to allow the pedestrian to cross.

When accidents occur in crosswalks, the personal injury victim usually is favored. If you or your loved one is injured in such an accident, you may be entitled to compensation under the law. Most often, a personal injury lawsuit in such cases can be successful in obtaining compensation from the driver’s car insurance.
